The Temporary Graduate Subclass 485 Visa is a temporary visa for International students, who have recently graduated from an Australian educational institution.
To be eligible to apply for the 485 visa applicants must:
Note: Family members may also be included in the application for a 485 Visa if they are also in Australia.
There are two different streams through which an applicant can apply for a Temporary Graduate Visa.
This option is for International Students who hold an eligible qualification and skills which relate to an occupation in the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skill List (MLTSSL).
If successful, visas in this stream are granted for 18 months from the date of the grant.
This stream is only available to students who applied for and were granted their first student visa to Australia on or after the 5th November 2011.
International students who graduate with a higher education degree from an Australian education provider, regardless of the field of study, may be eligible for this stream.
Applicants choosing this stream must also complete a successful skills assessment in their relevant occupation.
If successful, visas in this stream can be granted for up to four years from the date the visa is granted, however this depends on the applicant’s qualification.
Applicants wishing to apply for a Subclass 485 visa, as well as any other migrating family members to be included on the application, must be in Australia both at the time of application lodgement and at the time of the decision.
Applicants must also provide the following:
This visa allows the holder to live, work and study in Australia, once the applicant has completed their studies.
